How to Change Eye Color
Step 1
I chose this image from sxc.hu
So open this, or whichever image you are using.
Create a new layer
Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool and create a selection around the iris as shown below:

Step 2
Select the Gradient Fill Tool and set the gradient as shown below:

Set the gradient to Linear and drag the cursor from the edge of the selection opposite the highlight in the iris to some way outside the selection, as shown below:

Set the layer mode to Overlay
Ctrl + D to deselect
Step 3
Add a layer mask by clicking the icon at the bottom of the layers palette
Select a soft, round brush, foreground color black
Now paint around the edges of the iris to blend it with the original eye

Final Result

Changing Dark Eyes to a Lighter Color
So that is great for lightening the color of an eye – but if you have a dark colored eye and you wish to change it to a lighter color, you will need to follow the steps above, but at the end of Step 2, set the layer mode to Color – this will completely change the color of the eye. Continue through the rest of the tutorial in the same way.

My thanks to Kornelia for sharing this quick tutorial with us.
