Remembrance Sunday – Photo Manipulations

Today is Remembrance Sunday in the UK, although Remembrance Day was Thursday, 11th November is not a public holiday, so if it doesn’t fall on a Sunday, the nearest Sunday following 11th is always Remembrance Sunday for those who were working and couldn’t attend on the day.

Here is a collection of outstanding photo manipulations in honour of Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day – is a memorial day to remember the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War.

Remembrance Day is observed on 11th November to recall the official end of World War I on that date in 1918, as the major hostilities of World War I were formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.

The red poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilt in the war.

This article is a tribute in honour of all members of all armed services and all civilians around the world who have given their lives for their country. Lest we forget….
